Which car is better for a first car, Mazda RX-8 FE Series 1 plus leather trim or a 2005 BMW 320i E90?

I know alot about Mazda's and their Rotary engines and how to maintain them, but I don't have knowledge in BMW's.
I would buy a used car but which one is better for a first car.
The Mazda is manual transmission
The BMW is Automatic

Pffffft, those aren't "first cars"!

One's first car is supposed to be an ugly, noisy, beater. Damn your spoiled.

The fact that one is automatic and the other is manual pretty much answers the question for me.

kyrasis6 The engine (FE 2.0) has been rebuilt... new crank, pistons, etc, but the head is used off of a b2200. I was thinking about ordering a new b2000 head and having it ported and polished, but was wondering... what other options are there?
