Thomas Edward Crowder, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011.
He was born to William Dee Crowder Sr. and LeBertha Reynolds Crowder on Oct. 6, 1939. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Frances Crowder Mitchell.
Mr. Crowder joined Corinthian Baptist Church in Nashville at an early age. He later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member and participated in the menВ’s and senior fellowships.
He was a 1957 graduate of Father Ryan High School and was one of the schoolВ’s first black graduates. He also attended Tennessee State University.
He was a licensed funeral director and was co-owner of W.D. Crowder Funeral Home in Springfield.
Mr. Crowder worked for more than 40 years as a truck driver. During his career, he drove for several companies, including Consolidated Freightways and Tennessee Carolina Transportation. He was a member of Teamsters Local 480, served as an alternate steward and was elected as a trustee for two terms.
